Busy, busy, busy. It's federal Q4. Here's the one thing that MUST top your "must-do" list RIGHT NOW.
Just stop for a minute to say "Thank you."
- To the client who said, "Yes. Let's do this together."
- To the person who brought you the lead.
- To the person who was THERE for you when you were having the tough day on the way to that "yes."
You know it. Gratitude begets more to be grateful for. I write LOTS of tips about winning federal business, driving Q4 results. Often, you read them. Sometimes, you heed them.
Build gratitude into every part of your client service. Your packing slip could say, "Thanks for your service!" Your client consultation sessions could begin, "Thank you so much for inviting us into your world..."
Overwhelmed by lost opportunities? Relax: start simply. Next time you win an order or a project, before you end your day, set aside the time to pen that thank you note and put it in the mail. Big company, small company. Just do it. Get out the box of cards, the pen, the stamp. And put that note in the mail on your way out the door.
Trust me: you'll smile the whole time you're writing. Especially in the high pressure of Q4, there's everything good about that.
