The National Center for the Middle Market (NCMM), a collaboration between The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business and GE Capital, reports that middle market companies ($10 million to $1 billion in annual revenues) together generate over $10 trillion in revenue and employ more than 44 million people – a third of U.S. private employment – and last year drove 70% of all new jobs in 2013.
But in the federal space, such apparently robust companies can face some big challenges. Now, they’re also attracting some serious attention…and champions, including co-chairs of the new Congressional Caucus for Middle Market Growth, Representatives Steve Stivers (R-OH-15), Jared Polis (D-CO-2), Tom Rice (R-SC-7) and Brad Schneider (D-IL-10).
